How do I find out if my Green Card is expired?
Permanent Resident Cards, commonly knows as Green Cards, may have an expiration
date printed on front of the card. Permanent residents (Green Card holders) who were issued a Green
Card valid for ten years, should submit a
Renewal application if the Green Card is already expired or will expire
within 6 months.

This is a very common procedure, however, it does require the applicant to file

Are there any legal implications if I don't renew or replace my Green Card?
Section 264 of the Immigration and Nationality Act states that: "Every alien, eighteen years of age and over, shall at all times
carry with him and have in his personal possession any certificate of alien
registration or alien registration receipt card issued to him. Any alien who
fails to comply with [these] provisions shall be guilty of a misdemeanor."
How long can I stay outside the United States with a Green Card?
Green Card holders are entitled to travel outside the United States whenever
they wish. However, there are limitations on how long a Green Card holder can
stay outside the United States. A document called a "Reentry Permit" must be obtained from
